Many of you will have met the Horley Lions around Christmas, when they help Santa on his sleigh around the streets of Horley and outside some of the big shops in the town.
Horley Lions are members of Lions Clubs International – the global leader in community service – dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know where help is necessary and why.
Local clubs are part of the world’s largest such organisation, with more than 1.35 million members within over 45,000 clubs, serving in 206 countries and geographical areas.
The association is both non-political and non-sectarian.
Horley Lions Club was formed in 1963 and membership is stable at around thirty.
We raise funds to help those in need, by organising or attending events in the local area, whether to an individual or a charitable Organisation. This assistance can be as a result of a national disaster or somebody falling on hard times.
ALL the profit raised from our activities goes to charity – the full operating costs of each Lions Club are met by its members.
Over the last 15 years, the Horley Lions Club has raised over £300,000 and in the last year we raised over £30,000. The vast majority of this is spent on local people and charities – particularly those that attend to the needs of the disabled.
Horley Lions Club incorporates Horley Lions Charitable Trust Fund which is a registered Charity No : 1060541
